Giftedness/IQ Testing

Giftedness or IQ testing helps understand a student’s intellectual strengths and how they think and solve problems. It can identify students who may benefit from advanced learning opportunities or enrichment programs.

Reasons for Testing

  • To see if a student qualifies for gifted or enrichment programs at school

  • The student is highly curious, advanced in some areas, or not feeling challenged in class

  • To understand the student's unique thinking style and how to best support their potential

  • ​To help with school placement decisions or long-term academic planning

What Is Involved?

Can include any/all of the following:

  • A conversation to understand the student's background, development, and learning style

  • Standardized testing to measure overall intellectual ability (IQ)

  • Problem-solving skills, verbal and non-verbal reasoning, memory, and processing speed

  • Optional academic testing if needed to get a more complete picture of the individual's abilities

  • This is when we will meet and we will go over the report, the recommendations, and address any questions.
